sedentary lifestyle

If your answer is sitting, then you cannot be more right. 70% of our day is spent while sitting – We sit while having breakfast, in the car/public transport, sit at our desk, sit while lunching and return home and sit. We may not realize, but we are paying a steep price for sitting for too long.

Yes, you heard us right.

Sitting for long period is quite literally killing us. An increasing number of studies have found that even regular exercise doesn’t reduce the risks that come with sedentary behavior.

Research has proved that sitting for long periods of time poses several health concerns, such as:
Slower metabolic rate
Increase blood pressure
High blood sugar
Excess body fat around the waist
Abnormal cholesterol levels.
Increased risk of death from cardiovascular disease and cancer.

Our lifestyle medicine experts at Hasovan points out that you don’t need to run a marathon, but instead you can do small changes in your lifestyle for you to reap greater health benefits in the long run. The key is breaking up your activity throughout the day, in order to get benefit from non-sedentary lifestyle.
