7 magnificent ways to be mentally healthy that you did not know


Physical fitness garners lot of attention, and for good reason. However, maintaining your mental fitness is equally important, and, shouldn’t be neglected.

We live in uncertain times. As much as we love to stay happy every day; stress from our daily lives tend to bog us down – leaving us mentally exhausted and disconnected from our inner self.

Everyone must face stresses and demands, however by devoting little of each day to improve our mental health ensures that we are mentally and emotionally healthy.

The mind-body connection is inevitable – a healthy body leads to a healthy mind and vice versa. Here are some tips that will help you keep mentally healthy and strong.

Manage negative thoughts

Negative thoughts can be difficult to shake off. Instead of letting them take over, distract yourself or comfort yourself till you find a solution to the problem. Give yourself time to think through.

Be in the present


Whether you are spending time with your partner, co-workers or just taking a stroll, simply ‘be’ in the moment – feel the warmth of your partner, notice the beautiful flower, the wind on your face and the air you are breathing. It’s easy to be caught up thinking about the past or planning for the future instead of experiencing the present.

Count your blessings

Although it may sound like a cliché, but by being grateful for how far you have come, instead of focusing on what you haven’t achieved, you create a positive energy all around you. Make a conscious effort to think about the times when you’ve felt pleasure, comfort, tenderness, confidence or other positive emotions which only boosts your mental wellness.

Pursue a hobby or try something new


New experience or a hobby can set you on a path to mental wellness, it is in fact a great mental stimulation. Participating in an activity without any pressure and something which you enjoy will help you feel engaged and happy.

Pamper yourself

Set aside a ‘ME’ time in your daily schedule, where you do nothing apart from pampering yourself and stimulating your senses. It could be a good meal, a bubble bath, a movie, or just sitting in the park enjoying nature. Small daily treats have a cumulative effect.

Increase your levels of endorphins

If you don’t feel happy enough, inject some positivity in your life by doing these simple activities – Smile as often as you can, even when you don’t feel like it, go to a comedy club or watch a funny movie, learn some jokes and begin to exchange jokes with your friends, take a class in yoga, tai chi, or qi gong.

Live a healthier, more active life

A well-rounded fitness by combining physical activity with a balanced diet is essential to nourish your body and mind and keep you feeling good, inside and out.

Keeping your mind fit and healthy isn’t as difficult as getting ready for Olympics, but it’s a good analogy. Don’t lose yourself in the pursuit of a perfect worry-free life.
